What is skincare and why start now?!

Skincare is how we take care of the skin on our face (and body!) to help it stay clean, calm, and glowing. It’s kind of like brushing your teeth—but for your face!

You don’t need a million steps or fancy stuff. Just the right products made for your skin.

Tween skin is changing—hello, hormones! Some days it’s dry, some days oily, and sometimes you get little bumps or breakouts. That’s totally normal. Learning simple skincare now helps:

  • Keep skin clean and fresh
  • Wash away sweat, dirt, and makeup
  • Feel confident and in control

  • Things tweens should look for in their skincare:

    • Fragrance-free or naturally scented
    • Dermatologist-tested for sensitive skin
    • Non-comedogenic (won’t clog pores)
    • No sulfates, parabens, or alcohols
    • Foaming or gel-milk textures (easy to rinse, fun to use)
  • A good moisturizer should include:

    • Humectants (hyalurionic acid, glycerin, sodium PCA) - they draw moisture into the skin.
    • Emollients (squalane, shea butter, ceteraryl alcohol) - smoothes and softens skin
    • Occlusives (caprylic/capric triglyceride, dimethicone) - to seal in hydration
    • Soothing and calming ingredients (aloe vera, chamomile extract, panthenol/vitamin B5)
    • Antioxidants (tocopherol/vitamin E, fruit extracts) - supports healthy skin barrier

    • Look for broad-spectrum. mineral-based SPF 30+
    • Avoid sunscreens with oxybenzone or octinoxate.
